Rock Our World with Your Comments: How does taking a full-body breath make a difference for you? Write your thoughts in a personal journal, discuss with a friend or family member, or post a comment below. We thrive and grow with your input!I first learned about noticing my breath when I enrolled a combined Pilates-Yoga class almost 20 years ago. The teacher didn’t just lead us in stretching and strengthening exercises. She literally modeled breathing exercises that were integral to our other body movements. She showed us that the breath was the essence of our class. Oxygenating our lungs was key to the workout. I remember leaving the class so relaxed that I felt blissful. My full-body breathing actually continued for about an hour after the class was over. I found deep breathing to be fun and a great stress buster. I started focusing on my breath more and more throughout my day, not just in my yoga class. Each inhale re-centered me on what was truly important; each exhale sent me back into the world more aware of my Higher Self. More available to living life at the expanded level of my Higher Calling. Now I continue to incorporate full-body breathing into all aspects of my life. Throughout the day, I quiet my fears with a breath. I quell my anger with an inhale. I let go and forgive more easily after an exhale. In my medical practice, I often take the time to inhale and exhale before seeing a patient. And, I have helped others to find their unique breath–my patients and even my young grandsons. I have discovered that the results of full-body breathing are truly miraculous. The Experiment: Try it. Just take a breath. A nice deep inhale that expands your belly, not constricts your chest. Inhale gently to the count of 5 if you have the luxury. Exhale slowly to the count of 10 if you can. Breathe often. Your Holy Breath. It will change your life and the lives of others.
