All Supplements Are Not Equal: Check Yours Out!


Taking regular supplements can be an important ingredient in Loving Ourselves to Total Wellness. Why is this?

• We don’t always choose to eat healthy foods that are high in vitamins and minerals;

• Much of our crops’ soil is depleted of important nutrients; and

• Even healthy produce is often picked before it is ripe, making it less likely to be full of optimal nutrients.

I don’t recommend a “more-is-better” approach when considering whether to add supplements to your health routine. However, adding selected supplements can assist you in enhancing your energy levels, normalizing organ function, improving your sleep, stabilizing your moods, and increasing your focus and concentration.

Because the FDA regulates dietary supplements differently than prescription drugs, the burden of deciding whether supplements are safe and effective is placed on the consumer.

I have spent many years researching supplements and finding ones that are of a “nutraceutical” grade—meaning that they contain what the bottle says they contain, that they contain no known harmful contaminants, that they are in a form that is readily accessible and absorbed by the body, and that they are cost effective.
