One of the Best Things I Do
It’s free. Relaxing.
It deepens relationships. Stimulates creativity. Helps to digest your food.
It burns calories. Elevates your mood. Improves your balance.
It builds muscles. Strengthens bones. Lubricates your joints.
You may think something this good has to cost a lot of money. Or time. Or something.
Actually, it doesn’t. Just a bit of resolve to get up off the couch. A bit of determination to stand up out of your chair.
I’m talking about an after-dinner walk.
Yes, it does all of the above. And more.
The Experiment: Set aside one day this week that you will commit to taking a 15-45 minute walk after dinner. If the weather is bad, go to a mall or nearby store. If the weather is good enough, bundle up (as needed) and go outside.
Take a friend or family member with you if you like. Or, go alone if you prefer.
Just do it. One day this week. An after-dinner walk. Who knows, maybe you will like it so much you will make it a daily habit!

Silence Your Inner Critic: Your thoughts will try to convince you that you’re too busy, too old, too out of shape. You can wait until tomorrow, until you look better, until it’s convenient, until you’re not so tired. Step back behind those thoughts. Give them a little chuckle. And, then do the experiment anyway. You can’t believe everything you think.
